good weekend :)

  • Nov. 16th, 2009 at 9:05 AM

Well, Friday afternoon I picked up the boys. Nathaniel was sick all weekend so we chilled out at home so he could take it easy. Friday night I asked John if he wanted to see what the boys thought about us getting engaged because I had gotten the rings in the mail. We ended up both deciding just to start wearing them...instead of his planned proposal on Thanksgiving (which I assumed was the plan). I know I'm a geek when the most exciting part was getting to update all of my social networks. :P

We've both been talking about it forever, so it was nice to finalize it. John's asked before, but never had a ring. He always just assumed that I wanted the usual three months salary type ring, but as a friend said, I'm not into bling, lol. Instead I got two Russian wedding rings, one for each of us. I think that's even better, that we both have them. Plus, I never wear jewelry, so it's really the only ring I've ever worn anyways. We've both decided that the wedding bands will be the ones to spend money on, but there's no sense in breaking the bank when it will do more bad than good.

Saturday I had the boys while John worked. Saturday night we went to the Classic Rock Allstars concert in Essex Junction. It was a pretty good show overall. It was a mix of different musicians from a variety of classic rock bands. I'm glad that over all, John and I have similar tastes in music. We both have genres that only one of us likes, but then there's a lot of overlap as well. Especially when it comes to oldies and classic rock...which is usually pretty hard to find in our age group.

Yesterday I had a lot of errands to take care of and some work to do. Took a long walk with Nancy in the afternoon and then John and I went to Koto for dinner to celebrate the engagement. I decided we should sit at a hibachi table. He had never been and I hadn't been since I was 12 or so. The food was excellent, and the waiters and cooks were all very friendly.

Today I have a few jobs to get done as well as sit here at Lydia's. Just got notice that AC2 just shipped. Good deal. Next week I have off while Teresa visits her other daughter. Time to finish up my letter of intent, check up on letters, and wait for Thanksgiving. :)

content :)

  • Nov. 10th, 2009 at 10:50 AM

Had a great weekend.

Went to the movies with John and Nancy on Friday to see Where the Wild Things Are. We got back and John and I walked around Midnight Madness for a little while.

Didn't do much on Saturday. It was more of a lounge-around day. Saturday afternoon the boys came over and spent the night. Sunday John had to work so I hung out with the boys and took them shopping. We had a pretty good time. Saturday night John fell asleep early. The boys and I watched Ace Ventura and then after that was done, they begged to see another movie so we watched What About Bob? I was glad they liked it as it's one of my favorite movies. The whole next day, they couldn't stop quoting both movies and acting out bits and pieces. Goofballs. Sunday started out with some Monopoly Deal, Borderlands, and a trip to West Leb. Pizza Hut for a quick bite and then off to find Jacob some shoes. He finally found a pair that he was happy with and Nathaniel found a football that he just had to have. Then it was back for more card and video games. The report after yesterday was that his heels were feeling much better (also bought him a few sets of heel cups).

**DAMN, just lost my whole entry....typing it back in here.

After the boys went home on Sunday afternoon, Jasmine and Steven came over for dinner. Steven tried out some Borderlands for awhile and then they headed out.

Also exciting was that I ordered engagement rings :D. John told me that he had always had a plan and if I didn't order them soon, I was going to have to wait for another year. This was totally news to me, but I ordered them. When they come in, I decided that I'd try to get them engraved.

Yesterday (Monday), I took a walk with Nancy down by the river to try to help her decide where the Bradford Conservation Commission would put a boardwalk. Today I am going with a few other members of the BCC to the Upper Valley Land Trust open house. Should be fun.

Busy, with breaks in sight

  • Oct. 21st, 2009 at 12:23 PM

Well, hmm, this month. Would probably be better to sum up in a list of sorts.

LEAF (BCC Energy Festival) - Designed the majority of the promotional materials and I must say, they looked pretty good. Even better is that I noticed an improvement in placement, font sizing, etc. I unfortunately couldn't attend the festival itself because I was sick. :( John jumped out of bed that morning and called Nancy to tell her that I needed to stay in bed. Grounded. :P

Hampton/John's Birthday - Hampton got rained out on John's birthday, but that was okay because he called up and got the boys for the day. I made his favorite recipe (Georgette's molasses and cream cheese frosting on chocolate cake). I also passed on the recipe to kB's mom when we all met for lunch. The next weekend we headed to Hampton Beach. John's friend, Ronnie, slept over and went on the boat with him. That was an adventure...he's not all there...with added recreational habits which make him horrible to be seen with in public. Oh well. Glad John finally sees how bad people can get under the influence of any substances. He was not impressed. Did get to meet Uncle Joe which was nice. We drove around for awhile trying to find the perfect spot to have a picnic. After a few tries, we finally found a lake in the middle of a national park to walk to. Had a good chat and then headed back to pick up John and Ronnie.

Umm...hmmm...what else...last week was a little hectic. Kathy was out so I had both shifts at Lydia's. Long week. The weekend comprised of errands with the boys and then on Sunday John and I just went for a ride. We ended up in Littleton and ate lunch at a little diner. The food was surprisingly tasty...after seeing the disoriented, poorly designed menu, I was a little skeptical. Then we went to the "Gigantic yard sale" that was advertised on posters all over town which turned out to be two tables in someone's driveway. Nice. We both found some little tokens we wanted then headed home.

This week has been hours at Lydia's and yesterday I headed down to Whitman's to work on their FileMaker database. There were some interesting (and critical) problems which luckily I quickly found solutions for. We set up Remote Access so I can make further updates from here which is good. Steve also mentioned that he wants to know as soon as I have any long-term break from anything so I can help in-house with some internet integration.

Almost time to go....sum it up: Jacob's game and BCC meeting tonight, boys Thursday night, Friday, and Friday night. Few meetings here and there. Hopefully catching up with Shainna, helping various people with computers...week for computer help I guess. Friday-Monday off...4-day weekend. Nice.

Joy. Cold Season.

  • Oct. 5th, 2009 at 3:09 PM

At work. Just looked at my Digisqueaks blog and my Lifestream has entirely too much Hulu on it. At Lydia's, trying to work on a few projects, but this cold is kicking my butt. Least I got a few sites updated this morning.

Okay weekend. John's birthday fishing trip got cancelled on Saturday. John called the boys on Friday night and they came over for the weekend. It rained all day Saturday but we found things to do. After dinner we read Doctor Dolittle for over an hour. We finished the second book and moved right on to the third. Nathaniel has slept through most of it, but Jacob is loving it.

Sunday I woke up really sick. John wasn't feeling that great either. We brought some LEAF tabloids to Paddle the Border, but that about sums up that day.

Busy week ahead. Marketing meeting and BCC meeting on Wednesday and Whitman Communications upgrades on Thursday. LEAF on Saturday with fishing rain date on Sunday for John.

Good weekend break

  • Sep. 28th, 2009 at 11:58 AM

Good weekend overall. It was nice to have a little bit of a break from last week.

Saturday started off with an internet session with Hellen. The last few weeks she's had a pretty good list of things that she wanted to look up on Google. She's such a cool woman. I hope I'm that full of life when I'm in my mid-90's.

Then was the LEAF Advertising Committee meeting at Bliss. That went well. Just had to make a few changes to the tabloid cover and create two ads for the local papers. I had received a little unwarranted criticism throughout the process (earlier in the week) even though I was the wrong person to get frustrated with ("Don't shoot the messenger" type situation). At the meeting I was told it was totally uncalled for which was nice. I guess the person had been causing problems elsewhere as well.

John had to go pull wood for his mom for a few hours and I got in a little Uncharted time. I can't wait until the second one comes out in two weeks. It looks amazing. Then we both headed off to Leb to catch Surrogates. Good story, but I wasn't too impressed with the movie itself. I guess it's hard to make the acting very good if everyone is supposed to be playing robots, but still.

Nathaniel went to the Vermonster 4x4 with his mom and her brother and such. Meanwhile we took Jacob up to the cabin and over to see Zeb and Jenett. I think Jacob just had a good time getting away from everyone for a little while. We also took him up to see Georgett and Eric for a bit. We're going to have to get in an afternoon Risk game one of these days. I didn't even realize Eric had the board game until I mentioned that I tried to find the 1975 version online.

Slow Monday. Made some last minute changes to LEAF documents before sending them off to be printed in various publications. Updated the BCC website and Facebook. Now it's time for a little Hulu catch-up and starting to get underway on a site for Dad.

ahhhh, a slow day

  • Sep. 25th, 2009 at 10:54 AM

Finally, a slow day. This week has been crazy. It seems like everyday there has been a million things to do. As soon as I left Lydia's (work) then it was appointment after appointment, job after job. It's a good thing, don't get me wrong, but it's been a little stressful. Nothing I can't handle, but it's nice not to have a ton of stuff lined up after I leave Lydia's today.

Just ordered business cards from Moo. Yeah, that's taken long enough. I'm never happy with the things I design for myself though. I finally just decided to go for it. I had like the design a while ago. I redesigned the same design with my new font to match my logo. One thing checked off my list. There's a long list of projects to do. Everything has been on time and such so that's good. Taking a little bit of a breather today. There's posters to design, but I'm going to do them this afternoon.

Kind of wishing we had the boys this weekend because it's Museum Day all over the US and a bunch of different places are free tomorrow. It would be nice to drive down to Boston tomorrow and check out the science museum or fine arts museum. Guess it will just have to stay on the ToDo list. Speaking of which I am loving all the project management type programs I've been using lately. I have Things, iCal, and Google Calendar all in sync which is nice. They're all set up to SMS my phone. It's been pretty convenient. Task.fm has also been great since Google Calendar doesn't seem so reliable on the SMS side of things. Xpenser is handling all my expenses and NetNewsWire has really touched up their RSS interface. Now, if only AT&T would lose iPhone exclusivity so I could use that. :P

one month?! what's been going on?

  • Sep. 14th, 2009 at 9:05 AM

Hmmm, it's been exactly one month since I last wrote anything here. What's been going on?

Well, more and more projects keep being added to the agenda which is good. John's been working late and after work I've been trying to catch up with various friends (which I usually didn't have time for). John's also been working most weekends so I've been doing various errands, seeing friends, or trying to find something fun to do with the boys.

This weekend was the first weekend John has taken off in about a month. By Saturday he was pretty weak from working so hard so we had a chill out day. Sunday morning we went for a hike to find Lake Constance (which was something we said we'd do all summer). John nearly killed the car on the way up (definitely class 5). The hike was nice. Steep at the beginning but then just a steady incline for the rest of the way. Took some pics at the top. The boys were doing their usual goofy poses. (Loaded on Picasa, Flickr, and Facebook account for those interested.) On the way down Jacob and I walked down the part we had driven up so I could skip listening to the bottom of my card crunch and grind huge rocks. Got some lunch, did laundry, and then John took a nap while the boys begged me to play Fallout 3 so they could watch. Yes, I know, it's not the best thing in the world, but I played those games at a young age...and worse. So they screamed and jumped as ferral ghouls crawled out of the darkness and my ammunition supply depleted. I was actually glad I played because I don't play often and always wish I made more time for it. Especially with reading texts that say that just an hour a day of action games can have huge benefits for your brain.

Hmmm, projects to check on. Projects to complete. Possibly soccer games to attend this week and then in a few weeks John wants to go to Hampton to go deep sea fishing. That's all that's on tap for now. Back to work.

whooosh. so much to do, so little time

  • Aug. 14th, 2009 at 10:45 AM

Sooooo....haven't written since we got back from DC. Been trying to catch up on things. John also started working with Mikey again doing subcontracted roofing/carpentry jobs. We've been getting up at 5am and going to be around 11-12am. It's taking a small toll, but I think that John's just excited about having decent work to do again. It also means we'll be able to catch up on some big bills. We've stayed up to date with all the little ones and I set up payment plans for big ones, but it looks like we'll just be able to pay them off now (John's IRS taxes, land tax, etc).

I've had a lot of jobs coming in which is nice. Most of them are small. There are a few big ones, but the payment is minimal (for non-profit groups). Other than that, I finished my draft of the letter to send to the University of Washington to introduce myself. I've been debating whether or not to send one. I researched it online and it's kind of a toss up. Half of the people say it's a good idea and half say it's a bad idea. I think I'm going to go with it for UW, but maybe not for the other ones. I'm really loving how much content is available for classes from UW on Twitter and their blog. It's nice to be able to get a glimpse into the classroom. It's also great to be able to explore links to other articles and interviews of the professors and students. *Day dreaming of Seattle* :P

Hmm, what else? Haven't seen Ay in a while. Hope she's doing okay. Keep calling/texting/etc. but it's back to the usual dead end. She had a birthday the other day, but she didn't come see Mom, Dad, or I despite attempts to do something. Hope she did something fun.

No boys this weekend. John's going to work on Sunday and Saturday morning. He wants to do something Saturday afternoon/evening since it's pretty much been wake up, work, dinner, sleep every day this week.

Meanwhile I am at Lydia's until 1:30, then it's off to a client meeting at 2. Maybe trying to catch up on sleep after that or getting someone to go swimming. Pretty sure everyone is gone for the weekend though. Snuggling up with Chowder for a nap doesn't sound so bad. Then it's grinding to get out the Mentoring Project website.

Quick post before code mode

  • Aug. 4th, 2009 at 1:59 PM

We got back from DC at around 10pm on Saturday night. Sunday, Monday, and this morning was mostly dedicated to running errands, returning calls, etc. Caught up on some RSS articles, subscribed to some podcasts since I think I need to listen to those on a more regular basis. Missed some great articles from Mashable and such that I'm going to respond to and share on Digisqueaks as soon as I have a minute. Downloaded some new songs and synced the iPods. Made a business call which will hopefully turn into some work with a startup company. Also started a Facebook Page for Georgette & Eric (Peaked Mountain Products). Turned on some music and it's into Dreamweaver land in a second. Have to rush out the BCC site. The skeleton is there so there isn't much to do besides add content.

Washington DC was good. I'm glad we went, but it would've been nice if the boys had actually acted like they were half interested in anything. Jacob was pretty sluggish the first day, but I think he go the idea that we were there to see things and he could keep up if he tried. He was pretty good about at least saying he enjoyed things. Nathaniel was just too young, period. At least I think that is it. I don't know. I was always into that kind of stuff, even when I was young. I think a lot of it had to do with the fact that my parents, especially my mom, was really into exploring all kinds of things with us. We used to go to the local art museum and I even liked that (even though it's small and just portraits). I guess I've always just been into learning everything I can and absorb it like a sponge. I can't get enough of traveling and seeing/hearing/reading everything as long as time/money/etc. allows. It was at least good to get John out of New England. I hope the boys enjoyed it more than they let on. Hopefully they'll look back and reflect on it as a positive experience later. As for me, I can't get enough and I was sooo glad to get back and take some decent photos. The first two times I went (7th grade and Presidential Classroom in 2001) I had film and disposable cameras and nothing seemed to come out. I can't wait to travel again. Everyone was ready to come home. I could've stayed much longer. I love it here, but could definitely spend more time in a more urban/suburban area. I am hoping even more now that Seattle works out.

Okay....code time. BCC website. Music is going. Crank time.

blah - to weather, etc.

  • Jul. 22nd, 2009 at 9:36 AM

So it's rainy out - again. I think the lack of sunshine seriously gets to me.

Besides that, I had to give a customer a new invoice with delinquent charges. First time I've ever done that. First time anyone has held off paying me. What a pain, but I did specifically point out the delinquency part of my contract at signing. It's not like they are huge charges, but they add up after 60 days.

On a good note, DC is around the corner. Can't wait. 'Nough said there.

Annnnnd I got distracted.

Where'd the sun go?!

busy busy. psyched. busy.

  • Jul. 20th, 2009 at 3:14 PM

Wow, haven't written in awhile. Too busy. All of a sudden I had all these projects. They're all stable, but still have a bunch of work with more on the way. That's always good. Had a great 4th of July weekend. Went down to see my Uncle Joe in Newton, MA then up to Echo Lake, VT and then home. Spent a night in each place with John, the boys, and the rest of the family. The boys had a blast setting off fireworks. They're already saving up for next year.

Set up a few businesses with Facebook Pages and have been working on setting up a website for the Bradford Conservation Commission. After that's done it's onto a site for the Mentoring Project. Two businesses are also in line. Besides attending Bradford Conservation Commission meetings, I also joined the Lower Cohase Chamber of Commerce. Along with that, I applied for and got an internet marketing internship.

What else? Planning our trip to DC. John and I are taking the boys. We can't wait. Should be fun and very busy. I think I managed to pack in everything we can possibly see and still stand at the end of each day :P. I guess they've been told that they'll be bored out of their minds, but I don't see how that's possible, especially in DC. You'd need days and days and probably weeks or months to see everything it has to offer. Tickets and reservations are all set. Metro tickets have arrived. Should be awesome.

Took the boys and John to Wellington State Park yesterday for swimming and a hike around on the "Nature Trail." The boys and I went to Halls Pond today and to the Mini Mart for some lunch. Now it's Lydia's and catching up on all of the posts and articles I missed over the weekend.

Phew.

new projects under way

  • Jun. 22nd, 2009 at 5:00 PM

Well, busy busy weekend. Met with Hellen, hung out with Linda, spent time with John and the boys. Back to work at Lydia's. Spent a little time researching for ideas for sites for both Dad and Georgette/Eric. Once the sites are done it's time for Facebook Pages. Wondering where the BCC wants to go with that also.

Can't wait for Echo Lake/Boston in two weeks (4th of July). Also can't wait for DC in the last week of July. Donna's helping there. Have to see if John can go and then I'm reserving a camp site. Can't wait to go back. After going through hundreds of photos last night from childhood and beyond, I am glad that I can go back with a digital camera. I took so many photos that were just horrible. If the light wasn't perfect then pictures were always so washed out (mostly disposable cameras growing up). The boys are really excited too. I hope that they don't get pulled from going at the last minute. "Experiences" are lacking there. Their eyes need to be opened up to a much bigger world. One step at a time.

Did some work, catching up on some missed episodes of shows. Home in a little while once Lydia returns. Then it's dinner and bedtime reading with John and the boys. Doctor Dolittle is on his way to Spidermonkey Island. How exciting! :P :)

floating on a cloud today :)

  • Jun. 18th, 2009 at 9:29 AM

Good day. Good week. Good life :). Not feeling particularly accomplished at the moment, but lately it seems that relationships with John and a few other friends have strengthened. Not really sure why, just feeling connected and glad to have everyone I know in my life. :) La la la :P.

John and I went to the Bradford Conservation Commission meeting yesterday to get involved. John's going to help with various labors they need like digging holes and he really enjoys the trail work. Nancy liked my idea of creating a Facebook page for the organization. She also wants me to post a few video clips I shot at the trail opening the other day. I asked why they don't have a website of their own and offered to host one and help design one if they wanted to do something like that.

What else? Going up to Lyndon today with Linda and then we have the boys over tonight....and laundry night. Joy :P. Looking forward to consulting Hellen on Saturday and a graduation party/cookout on Saturday night. Maybe some kayak time or something on Sunday with John.

Excited with the new iPhone OS on my iPod and the little Nano that Linda gave me yesterday. Wanting a little PS3 time after seeing more videos online. Fallout's calling my name. Not sure when I'll actually get to that :/.

Ech, in a cloud

  • Jun. 15th, 2009 at 2:43 PM

Ech, don't know if it's just a "Monday" thing or the result of a jam-packed weekend with John and the boys, but I'm feeling a little hazy today. Actually, I'm guessing it's more of whatever hit me on Saturday night. I don't know if it's a sudden development of allergies, or some kind of cold, but something hit me on Saturday. All weekend I felt a little feverish and stuffed up and had a horrible headache. Guess my body might just be trying to get over that. I haven't really had much energy or clarity of thought to get much accomplished today.

Despite whatever afflicted me this weekend, it was still a pretty good time. On Saturday morning I got up around 6 and went to get Donna up for a walk around the track. After that I dropped John off at his mom's so he could go log. Hellen's was next for a computer lesson. She discovered YouTube. Too bad she only has dial-up. We at least practiced sending and receiving email.

After Hellen's it was time for some chick-catching. After I picked up Georgette and John's boys, we headed to a farm to do some "keep what you can catch" for little chicks. We managed to catch 6. I got two myself, almost had many more, but they're quick and squirmy little buggers. Did some more running around and had a late movie night.

Sunday consisted of fixing Hank's well, barbeque at Georgette and Eric's, fishing and swimming at Lake Tarleton, hanging out at my Dad's for awhile, dinner, revisiting old photos with the boys, and a little Doctor Dolittle before bed.

Very late and long work day today. Hopefully there's time for sleep at the end :P. I'm looking forward to it.

monday monday, dada da da da da

  • Jun. 8th, 2009 at 8:13 AM

Hmmm.... Renewed sense of energy. Guess that's a good thing? I'm not really sure what I'm working on today. Thinking a poster to put up around town, my new cards, and perhaps working on ideas for sites for Dad and Georgette. The Sonkist site is ready to go....once the final payment is made that is.

Guess T's meds are getting stabilized. She's pretty sleepy today. I felt bad on Friday because she was pretty anxious all day. I kept trying to distract her, but nothing really helped. Looking like a quiet day.

Until I get home that is. Looks like we have the boys almost every day this week. That'll be good. We just finished up the first book in the original Doctor Dolittle books. I had initially started reading it because Nathaniel was feeling sick and he hadn't really heard much of the Bartimaeus book we were reading. Jacob caught a few minutes of it and wanted to keep reading it each time they were going to bed. Not sure what I think about that. I love the books. Bartimaeus has a much harder vocabulary then Doctor Dolittle which is good for Jacob, but I think it leaves Nathaniel in the dust sometimes. Well, actually, I don't think either of them understand it most of the time, even though it's meant as junior fiction. I think it's good for them to hear the words and absorb them. I can see why Jacob gets into Doctor Dolittle much easier. They both like animals, but I think the book is just easier to read (and to listen to). I think I read Doctor Dolittle by myself when I was in 3rd grade. Perfect for Nathaniel, but Jacob's going on 6th grade now. Guess you can't win either way. I think they're going to want to finish up the Doctor Dolittle series. As each book only takes a few hours, we should be through it pretty quickly. I'm thinking "Where the Red Fern Grows," "Maniac Magee," "Redwall" and a bunch of other titles could be nice to read next. They're all books I read in 4th/5th grade and I don't want to overlap what they might read in school but I have a feeling that they won't actually read them anyways. Looking at what they read and what I read when I was the same age, I'm not sure whether I read too much or they read too little. Ayla and I just absorbed books while we were growing up. I don't think we could ever get enough. Who knows.

Well...thinking of writing a few blog entries for digisqueaks.com today. I really enjoyed writing a bit on the future of social media the other day. I also have a few emails to catch up on. Time to get on it. Out.

Yes!

  • May. 29th, 2009 at 11:09 AM

Woo hoo....breathe. Just posted the redesign of my site. I must say, I'm pretty fond of it. For anyone interested, it resides, of course, at http://www.mepriestley.com .

Just means I have more time to get back to The Black Seal ;) (which I'm almost done with, Miss Suzie).

Yeah, not much else to say. It's been my priority for the last two days. I love when I actually come to a design I like and I get stuck in "code mode" for hours and hours. When your eyes start getting blurry you know it's time to go to sleep.

Had the boys sleep over last night. Again tonight. Not sure about the weekend. I have Hellen first thing tomorrow morning. I'm glad she remembered so much of her computer/internet navigation from her month vacation.

Phhhheeeewwww. Relaxing now.

it's saturday...already?

  • May. 22nd, 2009 at 8:59 PM

Yeah.....sooo...this week was kind of a blur. Monday was long, like usual...my 9/10 hour day at Lydia's. Then picking up John, errands, etc. Tuesday was pretty normal. Busy after work.

Wednesday was different. Can't go into much detail, but as soon as I got there, Lydia asked if I'd go to the hospital with her so she could get her mom checked out (who I sit with everyday). There was more wrong then she thought. I spend Wednesday with them in the hospital. Then I went back Thursday to stay there so Lydia could go home for a bit. Today they didn't need me because more family had been called up. A lot of sitting and waiting...which I usually do....but I usually have my computer and am reading articles and doing work. Luckily I had put Suzie's book on my iPod ;).

Yesterday I went swimming....yes....when do I ever wait until I'm supposed to for the first swim of the year?! Cold. But nice. I was refreshed for the rest of the day at least. Then we had the boys over. I'm still so surprised how much they've adjusted over the last few months. I think we have too, so it's all working out. Violet picked them up this morning and I did errands for the day. Love how I still have an article from NY Magazine open on my desktop that I still haven't gotten to read: The Benefits of Distraction and Overstimulation. I'll read it tomorrow...

pretty good weekend, funny week

  • May. 19th, 2009 at 9:23 AM

So the weekend went by very quickly. All-in-all it was pretty fun. Friday night we had the boys stay over. We got up around 3...well I got up around 3. Everyone else got up around 3:45. It's funny when I have things like that to do really early. On normal days, I wake up early, but take a little while to actually get up. When I have something I need to be prepared for, I'm unusually efficient. I can wake up, somehow be instantly alert, hop out of bed and be ready to take on the day. I'm pretty sure I owe it to all of the programs like People to People and Presidential Classroom. With those things, you packed light, woke up early and alert, and got ready to walk....alllll dddaaaayyy looonnnggg. With PC we woke up at 5am and went until 11pm. We were out straight...breakfast, assembly, speaker, tours, meetings, assembly, debate, speaker, assembly, group work, etc. etc. Of course the boys and John were out of it and the boys were wondering how I could be awake to drive.

Of course I say I was perfectly alert and then I managed to miss the Portsmouth exit. I find that's unrelated however. For some reason I get distracted...lost in thought...while I'm driving. I do it more often then I think I should. I'll just be driving and will go straight past where I was going, or start to turn some other direction. I think one, I'm driving too much, and two, I'm thinking too much. Not sure how to stop either one of those. I'm everyone's chauffeur and yeah, I just plain think a lot.

Hampton was cold and windy towards the afternoon, but otherwise it was pretty enjoyable. John and Jacob went out deep-sea fishing. Jacob got sick, but I guess he was a trooper anyways. Nathaniel and I hung out and explored. We walked the beach, the wharf, the playground, over to Seabrook, etc. We also went over to the Tow Show which wasn't as fascinating as we thought it might be. At around 3pm, the cold became unbearable. Luckily, I had brought my iPod so we took turns playing games on that.

We stopped for pizza on the way home and everyone fell asleep as soon as we left. We woke up the next morning, drove the boys home and ran a few errands before heading to see the Star Trek movie. After that it was visiting more people and back home.

I finished up a website last week and am still waiting on the client to show what I came up with. Just set up a meeting on Thursday so that should wrap things up. I got another site on Sunday and did a full design yesterday. Just waiting to show them and hopefully post it if it's satisfactory.

Today...doing a little research for grad school before I apply and working on my own identity stuff.

tgif. busy busy weekend

First Suzie, if you read this, I already posted to your FB wall, but sorry for not giving you feedback yet. I tried to put the book in a PDF and put it on my iPod, but it didn't really work too well. I never use my computer at home and when I'm at work, I'm usually trying to do just that. Buuuut, it's in a Amazon Kindle format now so I can read it on the go. Will do. Promise. Starting right now. Don't hate me :).

Second, busy busy weekend. Working late at Lydia's today. The person who usually takes the second shift had to go to her son's graduation. Soon as I get back, if there's time it's walking with Donna and then the boys are coming for the night. We're leaving extra extra early in the morning to let out their dog and then we're headed to Hampton. John's taking his oldest deep-sea fishing and I'm just going to hang out on the beach with the youngest. I was looking for things to do in case it rains and I actually came across the Tow Show at Hampton tomorrow. Guess it's a bunch of truck demos and such. Nathaniel will probably like that. After that we head home at the end of the day and then the boys will stay over and leave Sunday morning. Not sure if I'm working Sunday or not. Other than that, trying to get a hold of a customer who doesn't seem to be getting back. Hoping that's not something to be worried about.

I got my Moo sample cards in the mail the other day. Just a few fixes and I'll send for those in a little while. Totally different path for my branding, but I like it.

Other than that, actually kind of excited at how nice the Kindle and Stanza apps are on the iPhone/iPod Touch. Finally converted Suzie's book to something I can read on the go, easily, without printing a lot (my printer goes through ink like crazy). I also had gone to Borders to get a few books for the boys yesterday, but decided to wait. I found the same books on Kindle for less so I got one of them. Very cool. We're still in the process of reading the Amulet of Samarkand, especially with our 5 month of not actually having them over to read it. Thinking of switching to something a little easier for them to follow...but maybe the challenge is good for them. We'll see.

another good day

Well, John has work with Mikey today, thank God. He's been doing okay. He's been trying to do his own thing, which is fine with me, but things have been a little up in the air. He's had some painting jobs and he's had some help, but it seems every time he sets something up he has someone who will help out for a day or two and then they ditch him. Mikey has a roofing job to do for a few days, so that should be good.

I'm off to Dreamweaver/Photoshop land today. Had a great idea just as I was falling asleep last night. Have to try it out, but I think it's the one I'm going to go with. I hate how that happens, but it does. I'll try and try to come up with something, but I'm such a perfectionist that I am never happy with a design. Then one just comes along and it's the one I needed all along. Just in time :).

Have to write back to kB and uncle Joe today. Here at Lydia's until 1:30 and then off to the Fluette's to clean for a bit....then it's of to pick up John and such. I have a good feeling though. And the sun's out....so it's gotta be good. :)
